9 years ago yesterday my dad passed away. He was a wonderful husband and father. He also touched the lives of many people as a minister in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. He loved fishing and golf, especially in Steamboat Springs, CO where he and my mother owned a condo for 20 years. They were summer people. This painting is one of many I did based on photos daddy took. This is the golf course at Steamboat Country Club.

Up but not running...

Slow going today. I just spent some time getting the Entrecard set up. I think it is a bog networking thing. We'll see.

Painted my first ACEO's yesterday but no pics yet. I had more chores than I thought and same for today.

So here is my first prize-winning painting from 2000. Interestingly this digital image has been improved over the original by punching up the contrast and saturation. The original is weak by comparison so I prefer to sell this enhanced image.

Clearing the Decks

I am staying at the lake this week and as soon as I get a few chores done I plan to paint for three days uninterupted. Friends and family are great but a bit of solitude is welcome sometimes. Thanks to friends and family I have photos from the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Big Sky to work from.

Meanwhile, here is a favorite painting I did a few years ago. It won an Honorable Mention award in a juried exhibition judged by Don Getz. It is titled Iris Jig and is 14" x 20". It is a fun interpretation of some irises a guest brought to a dinner party. (Thanks, Sue.)

Relocating

We're heading to the lake today, Lake of the Ozarks that is. We live on our boat and hang out with a bunch of other boat users. This painting is of a popular area golf course, Porto Cima at Lodge of the Four Seasons. Have you ever been to LOTO?

There Was No Fire

Well, it's the middle of the week. How exciting! Beautiful day in the neighborhood but last night was quite interesting! I live on a street with 12 houses. Last night 6 firetrucks and 5 assorted vehicles showed up at 10:00. Turns out a neighbor reported a gas leak in their basement. Everyone stood around while the firemen went in the house and fixed whatever it was. An hour later they all backed up the hill and away they went. End of story.

This painting kinda reminds me of fire and water. It is 14" x 20" and titled Directions.

Here We Go

This new work is titled Pedestal. I really hit my stride painting it, completeing it in about 15-30 minutes. That would be the only way to accomplish the fresh, once-over, just-right blend and flow that happened here.
It's going to the Saint Louis watercolor Society's 11th annual members awards exhibit, Big Splash '08 in August. After that, for sale. Prints are available now in my Etsy shop.
